Check out our Learning How to Ride: Electric Unicycle video for a thorough introduction. It's packed with lots of useful tips and tricks to make learning on your own much easier!

How Long Will It Take To Learn?

This answer is a little different for everyone, but in general, it can take new riders anywhere from a few hours to a few days to be able to balance and ride unsupported with the ability to stop and start safely and make basis steering maneuvers. Feeling full confidence and control to tackle "the real world" with pedestrians and traffic will typically come after the first week or two of good practice.

Keep in mind that it's important to learn at your own pace - never put yourself in a situation you aren't ready to handle safely. Remaining relaxed during your training sessions will not only help you learn faster, but it's also essential for your safety as well.

Take It Easy!

Using a high performance electric unicycle can be dangerous if ridden carelessly. If you are a new rider, please take your time—at least a week is recommended—before attempting to increase your speed above 12 mph. The occurrence of accidents is typically very low during the initial learning-to-balance phase, but that risk increases as the rider learns to ride freely on their own for longer distances because of the false sense of confidence in one's ability to tame the machine. You should give yourself plenty of time to develop your skills before taking any unnecessary risks. Over this extended learning period, you will build up not only absolutely vital ride experience, but also the special muscle strength for greater stability & control. Never ride in high traffic areas or around pedestrians until you have full ability to steer and stop comfortably.

⚠️ Rider Safety

Most modern EUC come with incredible power and speed along with a built-in safety & warning system, but even the most powerful electric unicycle has limits to the hardware and the rider's ability to control it, so it's still very important ride with care. Ignoring or disabling safety warnings under challenging conditions could result in the the loss of available power to the motor, causing you to fall. To reduce the risk of accidents, please exercise restraint when accelerating & keep to a sensible speed for the situation. Never ignore pedal tilt back or audible warnings.

The power and top speed of the wheel gradually diminishes as the battery becomes more discharged. Even with high capacity batteries, please be careful to adjust your riding style to this reduced power situation & pay attention to the speed warnings. Vital to reducing your injury in the case of an accident, wrist-guards, knee pads, and helmets are always a good idea (and potentially required by law in your region).
