How to:
Replace S18 Pedal/Battery Base
- Remove the pedals:
- Remove the grub set screw under the pedal rod using a 2mm hex.
- Push out the pedal rod.
- Remove the pedal.
- Remove the pedal/battery base:
- Remove the Phillips head screws on the battery base that connect it to the front and rear batteries. These screws are located on the front and rear of the base.
- Mark where the top of the base reaches on the battery to make sure the new base is set at the same height.
- Remove the 2 screws holding the pedal spring in. Remove the spring as well.
- Loosen the 4x 5mm bolts on the face of the base, and then remove them.
- If the pedal base has the metal cube under those 5mm bolts, remove it and retain it.
- Finally, use a rubber mallet to remove the old pedal mount.
- Prep the new pedal/battery base:
- Make sure you have the correct side of the new battery base, as the left and right sides are different. You can tell because the front battery slot is longer and angled.
- Install the pedal spring with its 2x screws so that it’s facing downwards, towards the flat bottom.
- Fit the new base to the slide poles:
- Make sure you’re installing the base so that the flat part faces towards the bottom of the unit.
- You may need to push the poles together to get the base to fit on them.
- Tap the base up the poles, positioning the batteries to fit in their slots as needed, up until you reach the preferred height. You may need to wiggle the batteries to get them to fit into the base.
- Secure the new base, finish the installation:
- Install the screws in the rear battery and front battery.
- Install the 4x bolts in the face of the base, tightening them down securely.
- Position the pedal and insert the pedal rod so that the slot matches up with the set screw position.
- Install the set screw in the bottom of the base.
