How To: Replace V11 Control Board
How To: Replace the V11 Driver Board
- Access the controller:
- Using the video guide as a reference, remove the slide covers with saddle pads, top metal cage, and controller cover: Follow the first part of this video to expose the controller.
- Unplug the controller from power:
- Disconnect the two large XT90 connectors.
- Push the power button on the unit to discharge the controller.
- Remove the motherboard:
- This board sits on top of the main driver-board. Disconnect the wires connected to this upper board.
- It’s secured on by 4 screws; each screw goes into a metal post beneath. Remove these screws and the motherboard.
- Remove the Driver-board:
- Note the positions of the connectors to the board with pieces of tape, then disconnect the connectors.
- The board is secured to the Wheel with a screw for each MOSFET and each of the 4 posts. The posts are also screwed into the heatsink. Remove all of these screws and posts—make sure to not miss the 2 MOSFET screws located at the rear of the board.
- Carefully lift the board away from the unit.
- Prepare the new board:
- If the new controller was shipped with the heatsink, remove that component.
- Ensure the large insulating pad is positioned under the controller, by the MOSFET posts.
- There is a short strip for the 2 MOSFETs at the end & a long strip for the bank of MOSFETs.
- Install the new driver board:
- Start with screwing down the 4 brass posts to correctly position the new controller.
- Screw down all MOSFET screws with the small spacers on them.
- Connect all wires in their designated ports—leave the large yellow battery wires for last.
- Reinstall the motherboard on the 4 brass posts.
- Connect all wires to the motherboard in their correct positions.
- Connect the two large power connectors.
- Test the Wheel:
- Turn the unit on and connect to it with the app.
- Update the firmware to sync the driver and motherboards.
- Roll the unit forwards/backward, test all other functions.
- Once the Wheel is fully tested, power it off and reassemble the unit following the same video used at the beginning of the guide.
