Choosing The Right Electric Unicycle

The most important thing to consider is your intended usage habits. Urban commuters may have drastically different needs compared to those who seek pure outdoor adventure and exploration. Ask yourself the following questions:

  • Where do I plan to ride on a regular basis, and how much room do I have to stow my wheel throughout the day?
    • EUCs can range from tiny and light(The Gotway Mten3 weighs in at 22lbs!) to massive and heavy(The Begode Monster Pro weighs in at 86lbs!).
  • What's the length of the longest round-trip distance I would ever need to cover on a regular basis?
    • The size of the batteries is the most determining factor in the distance available. Larger batteries equate to a longer maximum range.
  • Will I ride primarily on streets, bike lanes, or pathways?
    • Some larger units have a passive suspension which eats up smaller bumps and jumps. This can help reduce rider fatigue.
  • Payload: what is my net weight including all gear carried or worn?
    • Heavier payloads typically require larger motors/units. We recommend heavier riders(265lbs +) look into units with a "hollow" motor, as they have a greater surface area to apply the weight to the motor.
  • Terrain: Steep hills? Off-road? Urban environments?
    • A larger motor will provide the power necessary to chew through steep hills and off-road environments. Aftermarket off-road tires can also help in these capacities.
  • Cost: What is my budget?
    • Battery and motor size are the determining factors in price. We offer EUCs starting from $699.00 with the V5F.
